Letter from Athletic Director Tanner Mills
Dear Rainbow Lake Family,
My name is Tanner Mills and I am your athletic director here at Rainbow Lake Middle School. My purpose in this position is to see our athletic programs at the middle school level grow and help achieve dominance at the high school level. At Rainbow Lake our purpose is to prepare the next generation of Boiling Springs High School Bulldogs for greatness. Our athletic programs aim to win every game but, more importantly, create athletes who are outstanding members of our community who create transformational change in our high school athletic programs.
When I am not directing our athletics I am the head coach of the varsity bulldog lacrosse team at the school, being a husband and dad, teaching, or a worship leader at Boiling Springs First Baptist. Even though I wear many hats I value our children’s success which is why and work tirelessly at all positions that I hold. Even when I make mistakes I measure success based on my effort and the satisfaction of knowing I did the best I could to become the best I could be. I believe in our athletic programs and adopt that same mindset for a more successful experience in athletics.
I believe that athletics is an extension of the educational experience. The experience should be positive and it should be successful. The coaches in our program care about athlete success and will merge the academic and athletic experience to be a positive one.
I suggest that parents form a positive relationship with the coach, so that their concerns and compliments create the positive culture their child deserves. Your relationship with the coach will make or break your child's experience no matter the winning percentage. We will win games and we will lose games but the determining factor to your child's experience in athletics and school is the culture we set and the standard in which we measure success. The culture must be positive and overflowing with school pride to create lasting positive memories. The metric we use to succeed should be this: success is the inward feeling of self-satisfaction with an outward product based on our effort and work ethic.
Academics must be valued no matter the ability level of your athlete. The best thing we can do for students is to equally care about academics and athletics with the same amount of passion and enthusiasm. Thank you for trusting your athlete in our program. If you have questions or concerns please reach out to your child's coach, then if you need further assistance please reach out to me, and I will do my best to serve you and your family.
Sincerely,
Coach Tanner Mills
